What is a dental crown and bridge?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap usually made from porcelain that is custom-designed to fit over the entire crown of your tooth to restore full function and to improve your tooth’s appearance.

A dental bridge is a dental restoration used to replace one or several missing teeth. A dental crown is on either side of the bridge with a false tooth or teeth in the middle. The crowns are then cemented over healthy neighboring teeth to help anchor the dental bridge into place. Neither crowns nor bridges are removable.

Before we can place your dental restoration we will need to prepare your teeth first. If you are just getting crowns we will shave down a portion of your teeth to make room for the new crown. If you are getting a dental bridge the two neighboring teeth that will hold the bridge into place will also need to be shaved down prior to placing the two crowns over your teeth.
